Biography

Since beginning his journey in 1994, Thierry Legault has had a variety of awards and accomplishments attached to his name. One of his greatest honors was having an asteroid 19458 be officially named Legault by the International Astronomical Union. In 1999, Legault received the Marius Jacquemetton award for photographic works from the Société Astronomique de France in 1999.

In addition to his awards, Thierry Legault has a long history of published and exhibition astroimaging. He has given lectures and photo exhibitions during: NEAF (North East Astronomy Forum, Suffern NY) in 2008, 2011, 2015, RCE (Paris) between 2006 and 2016, AIP (Astro Image Processing) workshops between 2008 and 2016, Festival de Photo de Nature de Montier-en-Der in 2008, Salon de la Photo (Paris) in 2007 and 2017 amateurs meetings in France, Germany, Netherlands, Bergium, Greece, Indonesia, Québec (Canada), Ireland and South Africa between 2004 and 2017. His images have been featured in a variety of publications and television networks worldwide including The Times, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, Fox News, ABC News, CBS News, Discovery Channel, Science et Vie, le Monde, le Figaro, le Point, Ca m'Intéresse, TF1, France2, and M6.

He has also channeled his astroimaging success into the production of three books: The New Atlas of the Moon with Serge Brunier (Firefly), Les Secrets de l'Astrophoto (Eyrolles) and Astrophotographie (Eyrolles). These books highlight his work as well as his imaging process.The latter has been translated into English, German and Spanish.
