Celestron Hosts First Ever "LA Moonwalk" Charity Art Show and Full Moon Star Party Benefitting the Planetary Society and Freearts.org

Experience an evening of Moon-Inspired art and sounds from around the world; an interactive pop-up art show fusing art, entertainment, and science into one fun filled event

Torrance, CA (July 25, 2016) – Celestron is extremely excited to bring to the city of Pasadena and the greater Los Angeles area, LA MoonWalk, on Thursday, August 18th. LA MoonWalk will take place from 7pm to 10pm at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and will be in benefit of The Planetary Society and FreeArts.org. This entertaining evening will be MC’d by Planetary Radio host Mat Kaplan and host special confirmed guests Bill Nye, Robert Picardo and John Davis.

LA MoonWalk is a night to celebrate the Moon in culture and science. There will be paintings, photographs, and videos of the Moon created by amateur and professional artists around the world. There will also be audio & visual stations where music and poetry will be made available through the stellar sounds of Wicked Audio’s headphones.

Long Beach artist Adam Hingley will be on site painting live in the courtyard with the final piece being available in the silent auction. Also included in the silent auction will be Celestron tabletop telescopes that have been redesigned by the likes of Bill Nye, Pen Ward (Adventure Time), John Davis (Jimmy Neutron), Kiel Johnson, Colin Fleming (Enchanted), and more.

Attendees will also experience a full Moon star party with Celestron, the world’s #1 telescope brand and the Planetary Society, the world’s #1 space science and exploration advocacy group. LA MoonWalk will provide the public and honored VIP guests views of Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, deep space objects, and of course the full Moon-- all night long. In addition to night time viewing there will be activities for the whole family to enjoy! Capture memories throughout the night in the photo booth, participate in children’s activities with FreeArts.org and enjoy the sounds of area rocker Joe Normal and the Anytowners. VIP guests will receive special telescope viewing time with Bill Nye and Robert Picardo.
