Biography
Astronomers Without Borders (AWB) connects people worldwide through our common passion for astronomy. From sidewalk astronomy to online observing programs, through member reports and direct interaction, we see that we all share the same sky. Learning about each other through shared experiences creates understanding between cultures. Some AWB programs encourage sharing resources, from know-how to tools for astronomy and education. Others feature AstroArts, AstroCrafts and other ways of enjoying astronomy, highlighting our diverse perspectives on the Universe. And sometimes it’s just observing, either separately or together through online programs. Global Astronomy Month (GAM), coordinated each April by Astronomers Without Borders, is the world’s largest annual celebration of astronomy. With dozens of programs ranging from webcasts to contests, AWB and its partners bring new ideas and special editions of existing programs to the GAM worldwide stage. Astronomy has been a part of every culture throughout history, something we have always shared. That’s the foundation of Astronomers Without Borders. One People, One Sky.
